View from hotel bedroom in the Copthorne Hotel was magnificent. Only reservation was that we could hear the trains passing until late at night/early morning. Location of hotel was a good 15 minute walk to the main shopping area/railway station but despite that we would certainly return.

Bad start at Copthorne Hotel shown as free carparking in brochure. Hotel had decided to put a £4 per night charge on starting 01/08/08 we arrived 04/08/08 nobody warned us so £16 extra charge in the first 2 minutes at Hotel was an unwelcomed shock. It still shows free carparking in latest brochure which arrived this week maybe it should be changed? Because our trip was for a Educational event budget blown immediately. Other than that Hotel fine. Some train noise but made up for with superb view. My son did the Rock School at Sage culminating in a show on the last Friday. He is 13 and this course is excellent for singers, drummers, bass players, and guitarists. Although a little expensive if you have to stay.

We booked the Copthorne Newcastle to celebrate our anniversary. We found the location great on the Quay side, good for night life and handy enough to walk to the shops. Also great for parking. The hotel and staff were great. Our only disappointment was the cleanliness and state of the changing facilities in leisure pool. Whilst the pool and spa were fine, it was the changing areas, both male and female which were dirty. The floors sinks and showers were dirty and the lockers were broken, with doors hanging off. This was not in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

I live in Newcastle and we visited The Copthorne to have a break away from everything. The hotel is situated next to the BT building and has a view over the Tyne. The restaurant is competitively priced (especially if you go for the set menu (which still gives you a reasonable amount of choice)).[1] The bar has a door leading to water front so we used it to go for a walk along the river. Compared to other hotel rooms I've stayed in, the room was large. There's an air conditioning system which is controllable by the guest. We had a view over The Tyne. The en suite bathroom had a sink, a toilet, a bath, a fixed shower and a towel rail. One of the things that I didn't like was that the hotel only provided us with one set of towels. There are movies available on pay-per-view (at about 8GBP or 9GBP) but guide next to the TV was out of date. We were staying at the end of April and the guide was dated Feb/March. For breakfast there was the choice of the menu for the "English" breakfast or a buffet for a continental breakfast. The hotel has a pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. When we used them we were the only ones there but, I suspect, that they would be busy during the summer. We were provided with towels (one each) for the pool. The lockers take 20p coins. There's also a gym but we didn't use that. [1] We visited a local restaurant, The Big Mussel, but we returned to the hotel to eat as it was cheaper and had a better selection.

Went to Newcastle for the weekend with husband, Hotel was easy to find, we printed directions off AA Website. Hotel was beautiful and directly on the Quayside staff were very freiendly and helpful, Breakfast was lovely. Hotel was in an idea position, lots of nice bars at night and lovely shops in the day. The view out of the room window was lovely you could see the river and all the bridges. Fantastic hotel and we will definatly be going back.
